I am honored and grateful to have received the Dianne Bernhard Gold Medal Award for my pastel, Sophia Standing, at the Pastel Society of America’s 2019 Enduring Brilliance Exhibition, National Arts Club, NY.
I am deeply moved to have been named a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America.
I was invited to present a talk at The Art Students League of New York in February, 2019. The talk, which was open to the public, was entitled The Language of Pastel. It is always wonderful to research and deepen my understanding of the expressive power of my beloved medium.
My painting, Silk Nightgown, has been purchased by Ming Gallery of Art, Suzhou City, China. It was shown in the inaugural exhibit of the first museum in the world devoted exclusively to pastel, The Museum of Pastel. Also located in Suzhou City, the museum opened its doors in November 2017.
Thank you to reviewer Catherine Prescott and the American Arts Quarterly Journal for citing my works in the review of the Women Painting Women: In Earnest 2017 traveling museum exhibit; Winter 2017 issue.
I had a wonderful time giving a portrait in pastel demonstration the evening of November 29, 2017, at The Art Students League of New York. Also demonstrating were Marilyn Friedman, sculptor, and Liz Adams Jones, oil painter. The demo was live-streamed on the Art Students League Facebook page.
