I was invited to present a talk at The Art Students League of New York in February, 2019. The talk, which was open to the public, was entitled The Language of Pastel.  It is always wonderful to research and deepen my understanding of the expressive power of my beloved medium.

My self-portrait, In the Studio, was juried into the annual Enduring Brilliance exhibit of the Pastel Society of America exhibit in September 2018.

My portrait, Patrick, was exhibited in the Instructors Exhibit of the Art Students League of New York.

My painting, Silk Nightgown, has been purchased by Ming Gallery of Art, Suzhou City, China. It was shown in the inaugural exhibit of the first museum in the world devoted exclusively to pastel, The Museum of Pastel. Also located in Suzhou City, the museum opened its doors in November 2017.

My self-portrait, Opening, was awarded the Albert Handell Award at the Pastel Society of America’s Annual Exhibition, Enduring Brilliance. I am grateful to Mr. Handell and the jurors for this honor.

Thank you to reviewer Catherine Prescott and the American Arts Quarterly Journal for citing my works in the review of the Women Painting Women: In Earnest 2017 traveling museum exhibit; Winter 2017 issue.

I had a wonderful time giving a portrait in pastel demonstration the evening of November 29, 2017, at The Art Students League of New York. Also demonstrating were Marilyn Friedman, sculptor, and Liz Adams Jones, oil painter. The demo was live-streamed on the Art Students League Facebook page.

I am thrilled to be teaching educators in Suzhou and Beijing, China about the use of pastel for the month of August, 2016.

Painting Perceptions has published a wonderful interview with me conducted by Elana Hagler.

I want to thank artist/ writer/ teacher Richard Halstead for his beautiful essay, The Quiet Power of Ellen Eagle, about my portraits.  Read the essay here at The Halstead School, Richard’s blog. A revised version is published in Fine Art Connoisseur, February 2016.
